Promenade Smith Urban Design Competition
This urban design competition aims to transform two derelict public spaces in Griffintown, Smith street and Gallery Square, into vibrant spaces for community use.
Catalyse Urbaine’s entry features a central green space of terraced gardens that collect rain water, and direct it towards the Lachine Canal. On summer nights, people gather on the green amphitheater above the canal for an outdoor film projection. An equestrian path, originating at the Griffintown Horse Palace down the street, leads through the neighborhood, providing entertainment for residents and visitors alike.
