Westbury Project

The Westbury project is a mixed-used development planned on the site of the former Armstrong factory in Montreal. The project includes new housing, a hotel, offices and commercial spaces, as well as new streets.
As part of their agreement, the developers gave the City of Montreal a piece of land at the heart of the project to make a new park.
Catalyse Urbaine’s Mandate was to elaborate an analysis of the site, and to propose guidelines for the new park.
The firm conducted an in-depth analysis of the existing recreational and cultural offerings in the vicinity of the new project. Every park, green space, recreational ground within a 30 minutes walking radius was visited. The demographics of the existing and future population were analysed, to draw a portrait of the future users of the park and their needs. The findings were translated into recommendations for the future programming of the park.
